Fernando Ortega Releases New Single, "Jesus, Bread Of Life"
Dove Awards-winning singer, pianist, songwriter, arranger and storyteller Fernando Ortega releases his first new single in nearly three years, "Jesus, Bread Of Life." Available now at digital and streaming outlets internationally via https://linktr.ee/fernandoortegamusic, the song is the lead single from Ortega's For All The Saints EP set to release next month and featuring songs meant for the church and congregational worship. The EP can be pre-ordered now from www.fernandoortega.com.
Co-produced by Ortega and Matthew Tobias and engineered and mixed by Russ Long (Newsboys, Tenth Avenue North, Keith & Kristyn Getty), "Jesus, Bread Of Life" was written during a The Porter's Gate writer's retreat held a few years ago at the Art House in Nashville.
"This is not the first communion song I've recorded, but what I like about it is how it is an invitation to the downtrodden, people in need - that theme of the gospel inviting people who are marginalized to the table," shares Fernando, quoting the lyrics in verse two of the song, "Sister take what you need, anything I own. There is no famine here, the love of Jesus multiplies. Brother what's mine is yours, you are not alone. There is no shortage here, the love Jesus satisfies."
"Jesus, Bread of Life"
Chorus:
O Lord, come fill us with your love
At this table made for us
There is more than enough
Jesus, Bread of Life
The single also features harmonies by Fernando's 15-year-old daughter, Ruby, who has sung at New York's Carnegie Hall and is slated to sing at Disneyland Park in the near future with her state championship-winning high school choir.
"She has a fantastic sense of pitch and started making up harmonies to the song as she heard it on the way to and back again from school," remembers Ortega. "This song is one of our favorites on the upcoming EP."
