Netflix confirms "Arrested Development" Season 5 is coming. The popular show came to Netflix in 2013 for a fourth season in 2013 after a seven year absence. Before that, "Arrested Development" was last seen on Fox in 2006 with the third season.
The shows revival on Netflix came with high anticipation and even though it wasn't the best season for the show in my peoples opinions, it is enough for The Bluths to come back for another yet.
In an interview with USA Today this week, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos revealed a fifth season of the show is "just a matter of when."
One of the critisicms of the season last year was the inability to get all nine leads together at the same time. Sarandos acknowledges this and called it a "fair criticism" of the shows fourth season "that the cast didn't appear on screen often enough together."
Despite mixed reviews "Arrested Development" Season 4 was nominated for three awards at this month's Emmys: 'Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series' for Jason Bateman along with nominations for the less significant 'Outstanding Music Composition for a Series' and 'Outstanding Single-camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series'. They won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for its first season in 2004.
Cast star Jason Bateman spoke on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last year sharing some insight into the potential future of "Arrested Development". He said season four would play out like the first act of a movie. "Each character gets their own episode, and all the action happens at the same time," Bateman said. "So it can only really work on Netflix, where these episodes are released on the same day. So, like, you can stop my episode if you see G.O.B. run by on his Segway, you can stop mine, click over into his, watch where he's going."
This is intentional, as they do plan to come back together and make a movie to follow up on the events of these episodes. "Unfortunately, there's probably gonna be about a year, maybe a year-and-a-half gap between the two, so you'll end up having to watch these episodes again," Bateman said. "It wasn't perfectly scheduled, but we were just happy to get together as soon as we could."
