Freedom Heart has released her bold new single "WARCRY" to Christian radio, delivering a timely, anthemic call to faith and courage in a world marked by fear, injustice, and spiritual tension. Written from lived experience by singer-songwriter Lynn Chen, the song confronts chaos head-on while refusing despair, declaring with conviction that God remains sovereign and fully aware. Driven by urgent lyrics, a rallying chorus, and powerful production by Raz Klinghoffer, "WARCRY" invites believers to stand, speak, and shine light rather than retreat. The release builds on Freedom Heart's growing momentum, including hundreds of thousands of YouTube views, a Top 10 Christian radio single, a #1 Christian Radio Chart debut with "Plans," and a #1 ReverbNation ranking in Los Angeles, affirming her place as a compelling voice of hope, truth, and spiritual resolve.
Q: For listeners encountering Freedom Heart through "WARCRY," who is Lynn Chen at this stage of your journey, and what do you feel God has entrusted you to speak into the world right now?
I have always been an advocate for freedom and God's truth. I have never much wavered from those topics and I believe I never will. I might be in different parts of my journey in life and career but I am sure that those themes are themes that I will speak on in my songs for my whole life.
Q: "WARCRY" speaks directly to fear, injustice, and spiritual conflict. What was happening in the world-or in your own heart-that compelled you to write such a bold and confrontational anthem?
Believe it or not, this song came from a time of prayer with a friend in 2021. There were lyrics but not a melody yet. Then after the funeral of Charlie Kirk, Erica Kirk proclaimed in her speech saying, "If you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you have unleashed. The cries of this widow will echo through the world like a battle cry." Something in my spirit stirred and I knew this was the time to finish and release, "WARCRY". It is almost as if I feel compelled by the Lord that this is the time to release His sentiments on what's going on in the world and to beckon others to rally together!
Q: The song acknowledges darkness but refuses to stay there, declaring that God already knows and still reigns. How has that truth personally anchored you during seasons of uncertainty or mental health struggle?
I am comforted in knowing that God is with us always! He has assured us time and time again that He is Immanuel, God with us. Yes, there is uncertainty and there are a lot of confusing and threatening things going on in our nation and in the world. However, God has given us His presence and His word that He is in control. We can trust Him and take Him at His word.
Q: The chorus feels like a rallying call rather than a reflection. What does "standing for what's right" look like for believers in everyday life, not just in theory?
Standing for what's right is doing what you can, where you are. If you have an online platform, you can correct someone in love if they are saying something that is hurtful or disrespectful to someone else. You can be kind to someone even if they didn't deserve it. Standing for what's right is being the light and hope in the darkness. Standing for what's right sometimes involves being uncomfortable but knowing that is what Jesus would do.
Q: Your music is often described as honest conversations rather than performances. How do vulnerability and transparency shape the way you write and lead listeners through difficult themes?
I think at the end of the day, we are all looking for "the real". Maybe that's how God designed us? My prayer is that listeners feel seen in their real life situations. We can dwell on the surface for a while but what really matters is at the heart level. Everyone that knows me know that I care about what's at the heart level. My conversations and breakthroughs with God become the anthems to my songs. That is why my name is Freedom Heart. My heart is for myself and others to have freedom. My hope is for others to take my songs, feel heard, and be encouraged.
Q: As "WARCRY" reaches Christian radio, what do you hope it awakens in listeners who may feel weary, afraid, or tempted to stay silent in this moment?
Boldness comes when one speaks up. When we see others stand up, there is strength in numbers. I believe this is a time when believers are gaining momentum and boldness like never before! We need to align ourselves with others that are on the same page as we are and seek out those people. The enemy wants to divide us and make us feel like we are alone in our faith. However, you will find that there are so many more people that agree with truth and they just needed you to speak up! That is the message of "WARCRY" which is the call to rally, stand for what's right and fight in the spirit!
