Elevation Church is celebrating 20 years of ministry, marking two decades since the church was founded in 2006 with a bold yet simple vision: to see people far from God raised to life in Christ. What began with Pastor Steven Furtick and a small group of families stepping out in faith has grown into a global church community reaching millions each week through in-person campuses, online gatherings, worship, teaching, and outreach.
From its earliest days, Elevation Church has emphasized faith, obedience, and expectancy - trusting God to do what only He can do. Over the years, the church has expanded across multiple campuses in the United States and beyond, while maintaining a unified mission centered on Scripture, spiritual growth, and practical discipleship. Through seasons of growth, cultural shifts, and unprecedented challenges, Elevation's story has consistently pointed back to God's sustaining grace rather than human strategy.
A defining part of that story has been worship. Since the launch of Elevation Worship in 2007, music has become one of the church's most far-reaching ministries. What began as songs written for the local congregation quickly resonated with the global Church. Worship anthems such as "O Come to the Altar," "Do It Again," "Graves Into Gardens," and "Same God" are now sung weekly in churches around the world, offering language for repentance, hope, perseverance, and trust in God's faithfulness.
Elevation's worship ministry has extended beyond Sunday services through albums, tours, livestream worship nights, and digital platforms, creating moments where people encounter God in living rooms, cars, prisons, and sanctuaries alike. The introduction of Elevation Rhythm further broadened the church's musical expression, blending worship with pop and rhythmic influences to reach younger generations while remaining anchored in biblical truth.
Beyond music and preaching, Elevation Church has prioritized community impact and generosity, serving local neighborhoods and global needs through outreach initiatives, missions, and partnerships. Volunteers and leaders have played a vital role in shaping the church's culture - one marked by humility, service, and a willingness to say "yes" when God calls.
The #EC20Years celebration is not simply a reflection on longevity, but a testimony of lives changed, faith strengthened, and God's faithfulness displayed across two decades. As Elevation Church looks to the future, its posture remains unchanged: grateful for the past, faithful in the present, and expectant for what God will do next.
After 20 years, Elevation Church continues to stand as a living witness that when people commit to worship, obedience, and trust in God, He remains faithful - generation after generation.
