Carrying a powerful promise that growth and joy remain within reach amid life's challenges, "Flame," the latest single from Grace + Max, is now available on streaming platforms via WieRok Records. The pulsing pop track blends raw honesty with irrepressible hope, reflecting the duo's fierce determination to move forward through uncertainty. Written by Grace + Max and produced by Max Allard, the song was born out of a difficult season, with Allard sharing that it serves as a reminder that "what God starts can't be stopped." Echoing that conviction, Grace Korak Allard describes "Flame" as their testimony that no matter what they face, they remain standing because God is with them, affirming that the fire He ignites cannot be extinguished and that faith in Jesus carries them through every trial.
Q: For those meeting you for the first time, who are Grace + Max, and how did your shared faith and marriage shape the music you're creating together?
We are Grace + Max, a husband/wife Christian music duo. Before we were married, we were both pursuing music as solo artists, but we spent time praying about what God wanted our ministries to look like once we became one. About a month before our wedding, we were given the opportunity to tour together as a duo, and from the very beginning, it felt natural. We started writing songs together and blending our individual styles. By the end of the tour, it became clear that the Lord was calling us to combine our music ministry and release music together as Grace + Max.
Jesus is the foundation of our marriage and music-we write from a place of unity, prayer, and a desire to point people to Him.
Q: "Flame" was written during a season of spiritual pressure and perseverance. What was happening in your lives at the time, and how did God meet you in that moment?
Grace: During that season, I was walking through ongoing depression, and songwriting has always been a way for me to process my emotions and bring them before God. One day I was writing about how I had been through so much and done a lot of healing, yet I still felt like being fully healed was far away. When Max and I started writing "Flame," we began working on the chorus, and I remembered the verse I had written previously. We brought that verse into the song, and it became a key part of the message.
Through "Flame," the Lord reminded us that no matter what we face, He is with us. It's not about being completely healed-it's about standing firm in the middle of trials. The light God has placed inside of us cannot be dimmed, even in our hardest seasons.
Q: Max, you've shared that the song is a reminder that what God starts cannot be stopped. How has that conviction helped you push forward when the future felt uncertain?
Max: In times of uncertainty, I am reminded of the character of God. The same God who is all-knowing and all-powerful also cares about every single detail of our lives. He truly loves us and wants us to cast our fears and troubles on Him. God doesn't get "too busy" for us. He wants us to pursue Him every day because He desires for us to have true peace, and the only true peace comes from Jesus! When I'm reminded of that truth, I am able to push forward knowing God is with me.
Q: Grace, you describe "Flame" as a testimony that faith in Jesus cannot be taken away. What do you hope listeners who feel discouraged or worn down spiritually will take away from this song?
Grace: My hope is that anyone who listens to this song, no matter what they're walking through, would be encouraged to keep taking steps forward, even if they're small steps. God is with you, even when you can't feel Him. One day you'll look back and see how far God has brought you.
In James 1, we're told to consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds-trials are promised, but so is God's faithfulness. He will use what you've been through for good and for His glory. Your testimony matters. You're still standing. You're still breathing. God is not done with you yet.
Q: Your music balances raw honesty with irrepressible hope. How do you discern when to write from the place of struggle versus the place of victory?
At the end of the day, we know that Jesus has already won, but sometimes it takes time for that truth to move from our heads to our hearts. Writing music allows us to process honestly with God and invite Him into every part of the journey.
We believe it's okay to feel your feelings. God gave us emotions for a reason. The difference is what you choose to do with your pain. Are you going to stay stuck in it or acknowledge it and surrender it to Jesus? When we surrender our struggles to Him, hope naturally follows. That's where both the honesty and the victory meet. When we begin to write from the place of struggle, the Lord meets us and reminds us of His victory.
Q: As you step into this new season with WieRok Records, how do you sense God shaping your calling and long-term vision as artists pointing people toward Jesus?
Signing with WieRok Records has truly been an answered prayer. Our prayer has always been that the Lord would use our music to encourage others and point them to Jesus, and partnering with WieRok feels like a confirmation of that calling.
This season is helping us take the next step forward in the music ministry God has entrusted to us. We're grateful to be surrounded by a team that shares our faith, vision, and passion for ministry, and we're excited to see how God continues to grow and use this platform for His glory.
