Nashville-based Jamar Esaw & Triad 4 Christ, a dynamic 60-member chorale representing six states, have officially signed with Philadelphia's Enon Music Group (EMG). Originally formed in 2006 in Minneapolis through the GMWA Youth and Young Adults before evolving under the leadership of Gospel artist Jamar Esaw, the polished, high-energy super-choir is now positioned to expand its global reach through this strategic partnership.
As EMG welcomes the group to its roster, Jamar Esaw & Triad 4 Christ prepare to release their long-awaited single, "He's My Rock," on March 6. The song has already generated enthusiastic audience response during live performances and is currently available for preorder and presave on major streaming platforms.
In this exclusive Q&A, Jamar Esaw reflects on his journey, the evolution of Triad 4 Christ, and the vision driving this new chapter..
Q: For those who may be discovering you for the first time, how would you describe who you are as an artist, worship leader, and visionary behind Triad 4 Christ, and what continues to drive your passion for Gospel music?
For individuals newly discovering Jamar Esaw in the capacity of artist, worship leader, and Triad's visionary, my story begins with an enduring commitment to the study of choir arts. This encompasses a comprehensive understanding of both front-stage performances and backstage dynamics, emphasizing the construction of a community centered on feeling protected, esteemed, and listened to. As an advocate for personal growth, I am steadfast in my desire to witness others flourish and mature over time.
It's the people's testimonials that keep my passion alive. Regardless of having a terrible day filled with life's worst encounters, walking onto stages and into rooms to pour my heart out to people, and hearing their responses, motivates me to carry on.
Q: Triad 4 Christ began in 2006 with the GMWA Youth and Young Adults in Minneapolis before evolving under your leadership. What has that journey taught you about growth, excellence, and sustaining a multi-state 60-member chorale?
I've learned that consistency is key and that true success lies in reaching beyond one's natural gifts to touch the human heart. The Triad choir embodies this principle, enduring as a family unit even when formal activities cease, proving that the familial bond is paramount.
Additionally, managing a 60-voice choir spanning multiple cities single-handedly is impractical; instead, one must leverage team members' diverse skills and allow them to excel in their areas of expertise.
Q: The group is known for its polished presentation style and dynamic "super-choir" sound. How intentional are you about blending traditional Gospel roots with a vibrant, contemporary edge that connects with today's listeners?
I excel at merging classic Gospel elements with a vibrant modern flair. Our song 'Pass Me Not,' which has been integral to our repertoire since our beginning, smoothly combines these two genres. Through diverse performances, we've found that blending traditional sounds is essential for connecting with audiences of all ages.
I always endeavor to seamlessly integrate familiar traditional songs with modern compositions, regardless of the music we perform.
Q: Your new partnership with Enon Music Group marks an important milestone. What stood out to you about EMG's vision and leadership that made this collaboration feel like the right next step?
The core values of EMG music group resonate with me, particularly the emphasis on family. Having known the label's president throughout my musical career, I appreciate the sense of security and value that EMG provides, making me feel appreciated beyond my musical abilities.
Q: The upcoming single "He's My Rock" has already generated excitement during live performances. What message does this song carry, and why did you feel it was the right introduction under your new label home?
The core message of 'He's My Rock' centers on the importance of an unwavering foundation. Although family, friends, job, and church are all great, having a solid foundation in God is the one we can trust, lean on, and rely on without fear of abandonment - that is paramount.
I believe 'He's My Rock' serves as an excellent introduction to the industry, effectively showcasing our unique blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Being from Minneapolis, I was able to highlight my musical roots, which are deeply rooted in funk and gospel.
Q: With a growing national presence and global ambitions, what is your long-term vision for Jamar Esaw & Triad 4 Christ, and how do you hope your music will impact both the church and the broader culture?
My aspiration for Jamar Esaw and Triad 4 Christ is to keep giving the world good, solid choir music, because, contrary to popular belief, the choir is indeed alive and well.
"He's My Rock" is available to preorder and presave now on Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer.
