A newly announced video game is attracting attention for its unusual blend of biblical inspiration and dark fantasy storytelling. According to a report by RELEVANT Magazine, the upcoming action role-playing game The Abased places players in the role of a sword-wielding outcast tasked with hunting giants in a pre-Flood world.

Developed by indie studio CALYXIR, the game follows a character named Elyhias, a fallen religious enforcer who has been cast out of society and afflicted with leprosy. As his body and spirit deteriorate, Elyhias is offered a path to redemption: confront and defeat giants threatening nearby villages and trade routes.

Set in an antediluvian world reminiscent of the era described in the early chapters of Genesis, the game blends biblical imagery with dark fantasy themes. Players will track and hunt massive giants across a dangerous landscape while navigating both physical decay and spiritual struggle.

Gameplay is designed around strategic giant-hunting encounters rather than traditional boss fights, requiring players to weaken enemies from a distance with tools such as slings before engaging them in close combat with a sword. The developers say the experience will emphasize patience, positioning, and tactical decision-making.

RELEVANT Magazine notes that the game stands out among faith-inspired entertainment because of its willingness to explore gritty theological themes such as exile, redemption, and spiritual restoration through interactive storytelling.

While faith-based themes have appeared in video games before, The Abased represents a new approach-combining elements of biblical lore, medieval combat mechanics, and modern role-playing game design.

The game is currently in development, with additional details expected as production continues.
