A group of prominent Christian leaders gathered in the Oval Office this week to pray for the President of the United States and the nation during what participants described as a critical moment of global responsibility and national leadership.
The gathering was facilitated by Paula White-Cain and Jennifer Korn of the White House Faith Office. Several Christian leaders attended the meeting, many of whom have been part of a coalition of faith leaders who have regularly prayed for national leaders since 2016.
During the time together, the leaders prayed for wisdom, protection, and discernment for the President as he navigates complex international challenges and carries the responsibilities of national leadership. The group also prayed for members of the armed forces and for peace and stability amid rising global tensions.
Among those present was Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, along with other faith leaders representing diverse Christian communities across the United States.
Participants described the moment as one of spiritual unity and intercession, emphasizing the role of prayer during times of national and international uncertainty.
"This meeting was a powerful moment of spiritual unity and intercession," Rodriguez said following the gathering. "Even in the midst of global conflict and immense responsibility, the Oval Office was opened for prayer. Leadership at the highest level ultimately requires dependence upon God, wisdom beyond human understanding, and the covering of prayer."
The prayer gathering comes as the President continues to lead the country through significant geopolitical challenges, including an ongoing military operation known as Operation Epic Fury, in which U.S. forces are targeting Iranian regime infrastructure and missile capabilities.
Faith leaders prayed for the President, the nation, and those serving in the military, asking for divine guidance for decision-makers during what they described as a consequential moment for both the United States and the international community.
Leaders who attended the gathering emphasized that prayer for government officials remains a longstanding tradition within the Christian community, reflecting biblical exhortations to pray for those in authority.
"This moment served as a reminder that faith still has a place in the highest rooms of leadership," Rodriguez added. "Prayer remains one of the most powerful acts we can offer on behalf of our nation."
The gathering highlighted the continuing engagement between faith leaders and government officials through initiatives led by the White House Faith Office, which works to connect religious communities with national leadership on issues affecting churches, families, and communities across the country.
