Former megachurch pastor Brady Boyd has announced plans to launch a new church in Colorado Springs, just months after stepping down from the congregation he led for nearly two decades.
Boyd revealed the news in a message shared with supporters, saying that he and his wife Pam continue to feel called to serve the Colorado Springs community. The new church will begin meeting on Wednesday evenings starting March 18 at the Phil Long Events Center, with services scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The new congregation will be located roughly three miles from New Life Church, the large evangelical megachurch where Boyd served as senior pastor from 2007 until his resignation in 2025. Boyd said that despite the circumstances surrounding his departure, his sense of calling to pastoral ministry has only strengthened.
"We received a mandate from the Lord to pastor in Colorado Springs 18 years ago," Boyd said in announcing the new church. "That calling has only grown stronger."
Boyd stepped down from New Life Church in June 2025 after church elders concluded that he had made inaccurate statements regarding what he knew about sexual abuse committed decades earlier by Robert Morris, founder of Gateway Church in Texas. Morris later pleaded guilty to sexually abusing Cindy Clemishire when she was a minor in the 1980s.
The controversy centered on whether Boyd had prior knowledge of the abuse during his time serving as an associate pastor and elder at Gateway Church before coming to Colorado. New Life elders ultimately determined Boyd had not been fully transparent about what he knew, leading to his resignation.
Following his departure, Boyd launched Psalm 68 Ministries, a platform through which he continues to teach, preach, and produce online content. The new church marks the next stage of that ministry as Boyd seeks to return to leading a local congregation.
New Life Church, based in Colorado Springs, is one of the city's largest evangelical congregations with multiple campuses and thousands of weekly attendees. Boyd became its senior pastor in 2007 after the resignation of founding pastor Ted Haggard.
With the launch of the new church this spring, Boyd says he hopes to continue serving the community and building a congregation centered on faith, worship, and ministry in Colorado Springs.
