Emerging worship leader and songwriter Taylor Pride is inviting believers to begin each day with faith and gratitude through his new single, "Praise You In The Morning." The modern worship track serves as a reminder that praise is not only reserved for moments of victory but is also a declaration of trust during seasons of uncertainty.
Written as a morning prayer, the song emphasizes choosing worship before the breakthrough comes, encouraging listeners to recognize God as Provider and Protector even when circumstances feel unclear. With its uplifting melody and congregational chorus, the song bridges personal devotion and corporate worship.
Pride, whose passion for worship began during his teenage years as he experienced God's grace in his own life, has since ministered alongside artists and ministries such as Todd Dulaney, Stephen McWhirter, and Bridge Worship, continuing his mission to lead people into a deeper encounter with God's presence.
Q: For those who may be discovering your music for the first time, can you share a little about your background and how your journey into worship leading and songwriting began?
I grew up in both a spiritual and musical household-my mom taught piano, my oldest sister (Kelley) became a professional violinist, and my other sister (Nicole) became a jazz vocalist. As a family, we served in our church throughout my life, and over time, that naturally grew into worship leading and songwriting throughout high school and into college. Shortly after graduating, I joined a hip-hop dance team for a few years, traveling to compete at Hip Hop International and World of Dance. That season of my life was enjoyable, but just a few months before the pandemic, God began calling me back to songwriting. When COVID began in 2020 and the dance studios closed, I suddenly had a lot of free time-and a clear direction: to start writing songs again. Since then, I haven't looked back. Songwriting-especially co-writing-has become one of the greatest joys of my life, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to write simple, honest worship songs that help people lift their eyes back to God.
Q: Your new single, "Praise You In The Morning," focuses on choosing praise even before the breakthrough comes. What inspired the message behind this song?
My co-writers and I were inspired by Exodus 16, where God's people are in the wilderness, desperate for provision. While writing the song, we talked about how powerful it is to face difficult circumstances and praise God anyway, even before the breakthrough comes.
In that story, God faithfully provides manna for His people each morning, which is a reminder that even in seasons that feel uncertain or barren, God is still present and still faithfully providing. No matter what we face, He has proven Himself faithful, and remembering that faithfulness strengthens us to praise in every season.
Q: The song is written almost like a morning prayer. How do you personally practice starting your day with worship and gratitude?
To answer this question, I often think about something Rick Warren once said that really changed my perspective on gratitude. He described life not as hills and valleys, but more like two rails on a railroad track. At any given moment, there is always something good and something difficult happening in our lives. No matter how good things are, there's always something that needs attention. And no matter how difficult things may feel, there is always something we can thank God for.
That perspective has helped shape how I begin my day. My morning rhythm usually starts with Scripture while drinking coffee, gratitude while making my bed, and worship music while getting ready. I'm also constantly encouraged by people in my community who remind me to focus on the "railroad track" where God's goodness is still present. The Holy Spirit graciously redirects my attention back to the Lord and to the ways He is moving in my life.
Q: You've had opportunities to lead alongside artists and ministries such as Todd Dulaney, Stephen McWhirter, and Bridge Worship. How have those experiences shaped your approach to worship and ministry?
I've been humbled to write and lead alongside some incredibly talented people, but even more inspiring than their talent is their heart for the Lord. There's nothing wrong with growing in our craft or wanting to lead well musically, but when those desires begin to replace our desire to lift up Jesus, that's when things get out of balance. I've been deeply encouraged by hearing others worship the Lord with sincerity and passion. It's another reminder of how important community is-we need to hear one another's prayers and praise-and I am grateful to learn from and worship with others who share a mutual love for Jesus and the Church.
Q: The song has a congregational feel while also working for personal devotion. When you write, do you intentionally think about how a song will serve both the church and individual listeners?
Yes, that's definitely something I try to keep in mind while writing. I love songs that can work in a corporate worship setting but also mean something to someone during their personal time with God.
For me, melody, lyrics, and Scripture all go hand in hand. I'm especially drawn to singable melodies and lyrics that reflect truths from Scripture, because those are the kinds of songs people can easily sing together in church and also carry with them throughout the week.
Q: With "Praise You In The Morning" now out, can you share whether more music is on the horizon and what listeners can expect from you in the near future?
Yes, there's definitely more music on the horizon. My next single will actually be in Spanish, which I'm really excited about!
My heart is to keep writing songs that encourage faith and help people turn their attention toward God in every season of life. In the near future, listeners can expect more worship music in that same spirit-songs that are hopeful, Scripture-centered, and designed to be sung both in the church and in everyday life. I'm excited to continue sharing new music and seeing how God uses it to encourage people.
