Comedian and podcast host Bert Kreischer experienced a terrifying close call over the weekend when his tour bus caught fire and burned to the ground while traveling between comedy tour stops on Sunday. Fortunately, Kreischer and his crew escaped unharmed after an earlier mechanical issue forced them off the vehicle hours before the blaze.
According to reports, the incident occurred along Interstate 94 in the upper Midwest when a tire blowout earlier in the evening caused the comedian and his team to transfer to other buses while their primary tour bus remained behind for inspection. Later that night, smoke and flames erupted from the parked vehicle, quickly engulfing the bus and destroying it completely.
Kreischer later shared photos of the charred remains on social media, reflecting on how narrowly disaster had been avoided. He noted that if the tire had not blown earlier in the evening, the crew likely would have been asleep on board when the fire started.
"We would have all been on it asleep," he wrote. "We would have been dead."
Despite the frightening loss of the vehicle and personal belongings left inside, no injuries were reported. The comedian's touring schedule is expected to continue as planned while the cause of the fire is investigated.
