"I actually started writing it four years ago... and it's been one of those songs that just kept coming up," Hobbs shared. "You know when something stays with you, keeps coming back, and you just know you're meant to keep working on it until it finally comes to life? This has been that song."
At its core, "Hill of Grace" centers on the message of the Cross and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ-one of the central themes that has consistently shaped Hobbs' ministry and songwriting.
"He carried our sin, our shame-the weight of everything we've ever done... and in that moment, He made a way for us to be close to Him," she explained.
The song highlights a powerful theological truth: that because of the Cross, believers no longer live at a distance from God. Instead, they are invited into a life of nearness, intimacy, and relationship-free from striving or performance.
"We don't have to live distant from God anymore... Because of the Cross, we get to live in closeness. In relationship. In everyday nearness with Him."
