Worship leaders and songwriters Aodhán King and Benjamin William Hastings have released their brand-new collaboration, "Hollow Grave," now available on all major streaming platforms. Listen to the song HERE.
The track marks the first glimpse into a creative partnership shaped during an intensive 10-day writing and recording retreat in Nashville, where the longtime friends gathered with a close-knit group of collaborators for a focused, faith-driven creative process. What emerged from that time is a song that captures both the raw energy of spontaneous songwriting and the theological depth that has defined their work over the years.
At its core, "Hollow Grave" is a high-energy worship anthem built on one of the central paradoxes of the Christian faith: life emerging from death. With lyrics that juxtapose emptiness and fullness, the song celebrates resurrection life-declaring hope, joy, and freedom where despair once seemed inevitable.
"We were in the literal doghouse that we converted into a makeshift studio out the back of Hastings' house when we wrote this song," King shared. "Something about the tight quarters and heat of an unairconditioned wood box made us want to sing about the life and freedom we have in Jesus. We intentionally set out to write a fun song that we could sing in any setting. The juxtaposition of a hollow grave and the fullness of life we've found in Him quickly became the backbone of the song."
Hastings echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the emotional and spiritual impact of the track. "This song speaks to the paradox of life in a grave, empty lungs full of praise, hope where there should be none. The joy I feel when I sing this is unlike anything I've experienced in a while."
Musically, the song blends infectious, upbeat production with congregational accessibility-designed to work equally well in personal listening and corporate worship environments. That dual focus reflects the duo's shared desire to write songs that are not only theologically rich but also immediately usable within the life of the Church.
Both artists bring significant influence to the collaboration. Hastings, known for his poetic lyricism and contributions to globally recognized worship songs such as "So Will I (100 Billion X)," has built a reputation as one of the most thoughtful songwriters in modern worship. King, a founding member of Hillsong Young & Free, has played a key role in shaping a generation of worship music through energetic, youth-driven expressions of faith.
Their shared roots in the broader Hillsong Church music movement have long connected their creative paths, but "Hollow Grave" signals a fresh chapter-one marked by intentional collaboration, renewed perspective, and a community-oriented approach to songwriting.
The release also follows a milestone year for Hastings, who earned a Grammy Awards win in 2026 as a co-writer alongside Brandon Lake, further cementing his impact within the global worship landscape.
As the first offering from their recent writing sessions, "Hollow Grave" sets the tone for what's to come-music that is both vibrant and rooted, celebratory yet deeply anchored in the message of the Gospel. With more material expected to follow, the collaboration between King and Hastings is poised to resonate widely across churches and listeners alike.
"Hollow Grave" is available now on all major streaming platforms.
