Kenneth Copeland’s Granddaughter Responds to Bryce Crawford’s Controversial Interview

Courtney Copeland Acuña, granddaughter of Kenneth Copeland and chief marketing officer of Kenneth Copeland Ministries (KCM), is offering a measured and personal response following her grandfather's rare sit-down interview with evangelist Bryce Crawford, describing the conversation as both respectful and revealing despite clear theological differences.

In remarks shared during a recent discussion with Shawn Paul Wood, Acuña said the decision to participate in the interview was surprisingly straightforward-even as it marked Copeland's first extended interview in more than 15 years.

"My grandfather has never enjoyed interviews... he's not really been great at apologetics," she said, explaining that for decades Copeland has preferred to let his preaching stand on its own rather than engage in formal Q&A settings.

That context made the three-hour conversation with Crawford all the more significant.

"It was an easy yes at first," Acuña said. "I thought it went really well. Bryce was so respectful and kind... they actually sat down and talked for three hours, and my grandfather just told story after story."

Crawford, 22, entered the interview with a clearly stated purpose: to engage Copeland directly on the prosperity gospel-a doctrine he openly rejects.

"I do not agree with the prosperity gospel," Crawford said ahead of the conversation, emphasizing that his goal was to better understand how Copeland interprets Scripture and to allow the discussion to unfold in a thoughtful, journalistic way.

Despite that tension, Acuña framed the interaction as constructive rather than combative.

"I know Bryce doesn't agree necessarily on everything that my grandfather said... that was like his point," she noted. "But I think it went really well."

She added that the interview offered a rare glimpse into Copeland's personal demeanor-something she believes is often missed in public perception.

"It actually made me wish that maybe my grandfather did do interviews more often," she said. "You see a side of him-the side that I get to see-which is that he just really cares."

While acknowledging theological differences, Acuña ultimately emphasized what she sees as shared spiritual ground.

"I think we carry the same faith message-just through different avenues."

Founded in 1967 by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Kenneth Copeland Ministries has grown into a global outreach platform spanning radio, television and digital media, including its long-running broadcast Believer's Voice of Victory and the VICTORY Channel. Now 89, Copeland continues to travel and preach internationally.

The interview with Crawford-marked by both respectful tone and theological contrast-represents a rare moment of public engagement on one of the most debated teachings within modern evangelicalism. For observers, it highlights an ongoing conversation about doctrine, interpretation and the nature of gospel proclamation in contemporary Christian ministry.

For Acuña, however, the emphasis remains on posture as much as position: that meaningful dialogue, even amid disagreement, can reflect a shared commitment to faith.

The full sit-down interview appears to be rolling out via YouTube / podcast platforms, primarily through Bryce Crawford Podcast.
