Acclaimed worship leader and songwriter Brooke Ligertwood is marking the Easter season with the early release of a deeply reflective new song titled "Participation," offering listeners a powerful meditation on communion, unity, and the shared life of believers in Christ.
The song, which will officially appear on her forthcoming album EAT set for release next month, is being made available early in honor of Easter-a time when Christians around the world gather to remember Christ's sacrifice through the bread and the cup.
Inspired by 1 Corinthians 10:17 and the theology of koinonia-the shared participation of believers-Ligertwood describes the song as emerging during a quiet moment at the piano with Scripture open before her. Reflecting on the phrase "for we all partake of the one bread," she said she was deeply moved by a renewed vision of unity within the global Church.
"Participation" draws from the biblical idea that communion is not merely symbolic, but a profound spiritual sharing in the body and blood of Christ. Ligertwood connects this theme with Jesus' prayer in John 17:22, where He calls for believers to be one, just as He and the Father are one.
In her message accompanying the release, Ligertwood emphasized the beauty of this unity across denominations-including Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Anglican, Pentecostal, Evangelical, and non-denominational traditions-highlighting that "we who are many are one body." She describes this unity not as a surface-level agreement, but as a deep, shared spiritual life rooted in Christ.
The early release of "Participation" offers a preview of EAT, a project expected to center on themes of spiritual nourishment, worship, and intimacy with God. Fans can now listen to and download the track ahead of the album's full release.

Listeners are also encouraged to pre-save EAT on major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, as Ligertwood invites supporters to partner with her and her team in bringing the project to a global audience.
As churches worldwide gather this Easter, "Participation" serves as both a soundtrack and a theological reflection-reminding believers that in Christ, they are not alone, but part of one body, sharing in one bread.
