Jamison Strain on God’s Timing, Worship Roots, and the Heart Behind “Savior You Are”

Rising worship artist Jamison Strain returns with his powerful new single "Savior You Are," a deeply personal anthem that reflects both his musical journey and his unwavering devotion to leading others into authentic encounters with Jesus. Based in Nashville but shaped by his upbringing in Texas as the son of a worship pastor, Strain has long carried a heart for the local church-crafting songs that are not only expressive but deeply congregational in spirit.

Since his 2015 debut Beautiful Beginning and his breakout 2018 single "Yours Now," which reached the Top 10 on the Christian Contemporary iTunes chart, he has steadily built a reputation as a passionate worship leader and songwriter. Having shared the stage with artists such as Crowder, Jordan Feliz, Newsboys, and Matt Maher, Strain continues to carve out a space in the worship landscape marked by sincerity, theological clarity, and a desire to see the name of Jesus lifted above all else. With "Savior You Are," he steps into a new season of purpose-offering a song born out of waiting, obedience, and a renewed sense of calling.

Q: For those who may be discovering you for the first time, can you share a bit about your background and how your journey in worship music began?

I grew up a worship pastor's kid so singing was a huge part of growing up. I remember learning to sing harmony with my mom at our little Baptist church. It wasn't really until high school that I started to sing, and from there I was on staff at a few churches over the years leading worship. In 2014 I stepped away from leading every week in a church to being on the road and traveling doing music full time.

Q: "Savior You Are" was written back in 2019 but only released in 2026-what was happening spiritually and personally during those years of waiting?

Well, the first thing was Covid. It stopped touring for everyone - you couldn't have live events - so that was part of the waiting. Then when I took it to the studio in 2023 I still held onto it. We put all this work into tracking, engineering it, mastering it, and then I held onto it. I just didn't feel like it was the right time for a release, so it sat for a while. At the beginning of 2026 I felt the Lord nudging me to put it out there, that it was time.

Q: You mentioned sensing that "it's time" from the Lord-how do you discern timing in your music and ministry, especially when holding onto something so meaningful?

Sometimes I get it right! Other times, I'm human - I want to rush things when I should be waiting. I think the best moments in ministry are the ones that align perfectly with God's timing, not my timing. In the church we call them "God Moments," and when we rush the timing of something we could be missing out on so many blessings had we done it His way, in His time.

Q: You co-wrote this song with Steve Fee-what was that collaboration like, and how did his influence shape the final message of the song?

Steve is an absolutely amazing writer. Not only that, but he's a supremely talented human. The writing that day felt sort of effortless. We sat and talked about what Jesus is to us and how we love Him for the Savior He is, not the Savior who just does things for us. Out of that idea this song was born.

Q: The song carries a simple but profound message of loving Jesus for who He is-how do you hope churches and worship leaders will engage with "Savior You Are" in corporate settings?

My prayer is that this song becomes a prayer. It's a song of adoration for Jesus, Son of God, Savior of the world. One of my favorite parts is the bridge - it says "how marvelous, how wonderful and my song shall ever be." What a declaration for a Savior.

Q: As you step into this new season following the release, what can listeners expect next from you in terms of music, ministry, and future projects?

Definitely look for some upcoming tour dates, and I'm itching to release more music - so expect to see more singles popping up throughout 2026.
