Ubisoft's The Crew Release Date and Will Not be Available For the PlayStation 3
The Crew is a racing game set in an open world style gameplay where single-player and multiplayer is treated as one. A player can choose to play alone or form a crew made up his or her friends which would enable them to race together or against each other. Ubisoft is somewhat on a mission to take down Electronic Arts' Need for Speed as the number one racing game.
The races in the game will take place all over the United States, and the story will also focus on infiltrating the criminal underworld. It is said that it would take at least 90 minutes for a player to drive from coast to coast. The multiplayer function will allow up to a maximum of 8 players for competitive races and other game modes. Players can also build their own cars using tie-in apps available for download for iOS and Android devices.
The issue now is that the game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360, while the PlayStation 3 won't be getting its own port of the game. "The Crew was originally built for the new generation of consoles, so when we made the decision to port it to the previous generation, we decided to focus solely on the platform closest to the new-gen's technical infrastructure, which is the Xbox 360," a representative at Ubisoft stated to the VideoGamer.
Meanwhile, the closed beta test to the public was announced on Wednesday with an announcement from the official website saying, "The console beta will take place at the end of September. PC players can already play it a second time from 25 to 29 September 2014."
Ubisoft's The Crew will be available to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PC on November 11 in North America and November 14 in Europe.
