American Horror Story Season 4 Latest News - World's Smallest Woman Joins 'Freak Show' Cast, Plus Other News and Spoilers
"American Horror Story: Freak Show," the fourth season of Ryan Murphy's franchise horror anthology is set to premiere in October 2014. "It's set in the 1950...It's a period piece..." and it takes place in Jupiter, Florida, Murphy shared with Entertainment Weekly. "It will revolve around one of the last remaining freak shows of the era...[and it will be a] "super scary thrill ride...about a group of people...who are the last existing freak show in America...[and they are] desperate to stay together."
Jessica Lange will be back but it will her last season with American Horror Story. For Season 4, she plays the role of the German expat owner and manager of the freak show in the title. Sarah Paulson will be back as well and she plays one of the freaks - a two headed woman, of which one head is "Bette" and the other is "Dot." Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Jaime Brewer, Gabourney Sidibe, and Denis O'Hare will likewise return as regular members of next season's cast.
Joining the original cast members of the American Horror Story franchise are newcomers Michael Chiklis and Wes Bentley. Chiklis will play a "strongman" in the freak show who is the father of Peters' character, the ex-husband of Bate's character and the current husband of Bassett's character. Wesley will play "Eddie," someone who is after revenge against Bate's character, in this season's two-part story arc for Halloween. Standing at just over two feet tall, Jyoti Amge, the world's smallest woman, will also play a part in Freak Show, according to a tweet from Murphy.
Filming for American Horror Story Season 4 started July 15 to make it in time for its schedule airing by fall at the FX network. In previous interviews, Murphy said "Freak Show" will have the same kind of comedic tone as "Coven." He also confirmed that the freak show will have a bearded lady, and a terrifying Twisted Clown, confirmed to be played by John Carroll Lynch who is probably best known as 'Detective Bud Morris" in the 'Body of Proof' medical crime drama TV series.
