Saturday night at the Delta Ballroom, the K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend gave the stage to the people who write the songs. The Songwriters Showcase, presented by Coca-Cola Consolidated and hosted by Steven Curtis Chapman, kicked off at 7:00pm - and for two hours, the room heard the stories behind the music directly from the artists who lived them.
Each performer brought something different.
Anne Wilson - GRAMMY-nominated, PLATINUM-certified, and currently on the road for her extended Stars Tour - brought the kind of raw honesty she has carried since "My Jesus" first stopped people in their tracks.
Terrian, the Memphis-born CCM artist who cut her teeth as a vocalist in TobyMac's Diverse City band, brought a gospel-rooted depth that fills whatever room she walks into.
Andrew Ripp performed songs drawn from some of the most personal chapters of his life - including the story of a seven-year struggle with infertility that ultimately led to the adoption of three children, the kind of testimony that turns a showcase into something closer to church.
Matthew West was originally on the bill, but David Leonard stepped in - the former All Sons and Daughters co-founder who now produces out of a historic church in downtown Franklin - and proved to be an unexpected and welcome addition.
The evening also had a moment few saw coming.
Caleb & John - Caleb Crino and John Secker - joined Steven Curtis Chapman on stage to perform "Proud," a song the trio co-wrote together, released just one day before the showcase on May 22. The duo, signed to Fair Trade Services, made their debut in 2023 with "Hallelujah Feeling," which became the highest-charting debut single on Christian radio that year.
Sharing a stage with a legend the night after releasing a song they wrote together - that is the kind of moment a Songwriters Showcase was made for
