Kill Bill Vol 3 Latest News, Release Date? Probably There Won't Be Any!
For fans of Kill Bill Volume 1 and Kill Bill Volume 2, it's now highly unlikely that there will still be a Kill Bill Volume 3 movie. However, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, the single film version of volumes 1 and 2 may yet get to be shown in theaters by next year according to writer and director Quentin Tarantino during a panel discussion at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Kill Bill, according to Tarantino, was all along originally planned to be released as an ultra-long film with an extended animation sequence. In fact, the full 247-minute unrated combined version of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair was already shown from March 27 to March 31, 2011, at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. Now, he will just have to edit the two separately released halves back into one consistent whole film which is more suitable for a wider audience. "Anyway," said Tarantino, "The Weinstein Company and myself were talking about actually coming out with it sometime, not before the year is out, but within the next year with limited theatrical engagement as well."
But what about Kill Bill: Volume 3, the long-anticipated sequel to the Kill Bill story? It seems there won't be any, unless of course Tarantino changes his mind. When last asked about it, back in December 2013, he told the Independent, "I've done what I wanted to do by the time I was this age. Today, I'm further down the road. There are no genres I absolutely want to do any more, like ticking boxes: 'This, done'. I don't think about Kill Bill 3 that much, as... we already visited them. If there was something I would like to work on again, it would be Honshu's movies, maybe. Or a horror movie, perhaps." In another interview with Hit Fix, he said, "I don't know if there's ever going to be a 'Kill Bill. Vol 3.' We'll see, probably not though." Anyway, Bill's been killed. And, David Carradine who plays Bill is also dead, so chances are indeed slim that there will still be a third part to the story.
