Josh Duggar, the former reality television personality who rose to fame through his family's Christian-focused television programs, has been transferred to a federal medical facility that specializes in treating inmates with medical and mental health needs.
According to federal prison records, Duggar was recently moved from the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, Texas, to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Fort Worth. The transfer reportedly occurred on May 29 and was first reported by TMZ.
The Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth serves inmates requiring specialized medical, psychiatric, and mental health care. However, federal officials have not disclosed the reason for Duggar's transfer, citing privacy regulations. As a result, there is currently no public confirmation that the move is related to a specific medical or mental health condition.
Duggar became a household name through TLC's hit series "19 Kids and Counting" and later "Counting On," which followed the lives of the Duggar family, known for their outspoken Christian faith, homeschooling lifestyle, and conservative values. For years, the family was viewed by many as one of the most recognizable Christian families in America.
Before his legal troubles, Duggar also worked for the Family Research Council, a prominent Christian advocacy organization in Washington, D.C., where he served as executive director of its political action committee.
His public ministry and television career came to an abrupt end following a series of scandals that culminated in his 2021 federal conviction on charges related to child sexual abuse material. He was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison and remains incarcerated.
The prison transfer comes shortly after a federal judge denied Duggar's latest effort to overturn his conviction. Court filings show that his legal team sought post-conviction relief, but the motion was ultimately rejected.
Despite widespread speculation online, neither the Federal Bureau of Prisons nor Duggar's representatives have provided additional details regarding the reason for the transfer. Prison officials routinely decline to discuss inmate medical information or transfer decisions.
According to Bureau of Prisons records, Duggar's projected release date remains February 2, 2033.
The latest development adds another chapter to the dramatic downfall of a once-prominent Christian television personality whose criminal conviction shocked supporters and critics alike.
