Mandisa, New Song, 'Dear John,' Plea For Brother To Give His Life To Jesus
andisa, contemporary Christian singer, recorded her new song 'Dear John' in the studio on May 30, a song that she dedicates to her brother, John, as a plea for him to give his life to Jesus.
In the early afternoon on May 30 Mandisa tweeted, "In the studio abt 2 record the song I wrote to my brother called "Dear John". It's a plea 4 him 2 give his life 2 Jesus. Prayers appreciated." A couple of hours earlier on Facebook she expanded on the subject saying, "On May 10th I mentioned that I wrote a song for my brother called "Dear John" that will be on my next album, 'Overcomer'. I am going to the studio to record it today and would sure appreciate your prayers. I am praying that God would use it to save John, and every unbeliever person that hears it! I am also asking God to use it to stir boldness and love in the Body of Christ to witness to our non-Christian loved ones. Big prayers for our big God! Amen? I continue to pray 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 & Ephesians 1:18-19a over John."
In her post, Mandisa said that the "evil god of this age" has blinded her brother and other unbelievers from seeing the light. "But Jesus, I pray that You would open the eyes of John's heart, and let the light of Your truth flood in. Shine Your light on the hope You are calling him to embrace. Reveal to him the glorious riches You are preparing as his inheritance. Let him see the full extent of Your power that is at work in those of us who believe, and may it be done according to Your might and power," she said.
She finished the post saying, "As I record 'Dear John' today, will you join me in praying for a ripe harvest of our 'pre-saved' loved ones to enter God's kingdom and experience the abundant life Jesus died for them to have!? 'The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.'!!! (1 Thess 5:24)." Many of her fans responded with messages of encouragement and promises of prayer.
The song, 'Dear John,' will appear on Mandisa's upcoming album 'Overcomer,' set to be released on August 27. The title track 'Overcomer' will be released to radio on June 21. The song has already been played on a number of different radio stations, even though it has not officially been released to radio yet. It is an uplifting song about overcoming hardship in your life knowing that you have the light of Christ inside of you and that He can overcome anything.
Mandisa is a GRAMMY award nominated singer who gained popularity in 2006 when she participated in the fifth season of 'American Idol,' ultimately finishing as a finalist in ninth place, according to Life 96.5 fm. She has released a number of studio albums including her most recent album in 2011, entitled, 'What If We Were Real.' This album features hit songs like 'Good Morning,' featuring TobyMac, 'Stronger,' and 'Waiting For Tomorrow.'
