Mike Weaver is pulling back the curtain on one of the most painful seasons of his life-and his candid confession is leaving fans emotional.

During a revealing appearance on the One Degree of Andy podcast, the Big Daddy Weave frontman opened up about the devastating losses that nearly caused him to walk away from music altogether, admitting there were countless moments when he wanted to quit.

The beloved Christian artist reflected on the heartbreaking deaths of both his father and his younger brother, longtime Big Daddy Weave bassist Jay Weaver, whose passing in 2022 sent shockwaves through the Christian music community.

For Weaver, the loss wasn't just personal-it shook the very foundation of his faith journey.

"We just felt unstoppable," he recalled of the years before tragedy struck. "Then our dad, who's our hero, passed away. We were sure God was going to heal him."

The singer revealed that watching his father die despite years of witnessing miraculous healings left him struggling with painful questions. The situation became even more difficult when his brother Jay, who battled severe health complications including the loss of both legs, also passed away after years of inspiring audiences with his unwavering faith.

What made the experience even harder, Weaver admitted, was seeing other people receive the miracles his family desperately prayed for.

"I watched Jay pray and other people get the miracle that he needed," he said. "I wanted that for him."

Yet despite the heartbreak, Weaver said his brother never became bitter.

"That was another miracle," he reflected.

The emotional toll became so overwhelming that Weaver said he often found himself wondering whether he could continue.

"I try to quit all the time," he admitted with a laugh. "Especially after this last season we've been through."

For six years, Big Daddy Weave largely disappeared from releasing new music as Weaver wrestled with grief, loss and uncertainty. He described the period as feeling like he was simply "dying" emotionally while trying to figure out who he was without some of the most important people in his life.

But through the darkness, Weaver says one thing kept pulling him back: the faithfulness of God.

The singer explained that many of the songs he wrote years earlier took on entirely new meaning after experiencing such profound loss. Lyrics that once seemed hopeful became deeply personal as he navigated grief and disappointment.

Now, Big Daddy Weave is entering a new chapter with fresh music and renewed purpose. Weaver revealed that the band's new song, "I've Just Seen Too Much," perfectly captures where he finds himself today.

The track begins with honest reflections on pain and exhaustion before turning toward a powerful realization: he has witnessed too much of God's goodness to walk away.

"I have seen so much of the goodness of God in my life that I am haunted by the things of heaven," Weaver said.

Even after all the heartbreak, all the questions and all the losses, the veteran singer says he still feels God calling him forward.

"I will try to walk away a million times," he said. "But He won't let me go."

For fans who have followed Big Daddy Weave's journey through decades of ministry, the interview offered a rare and deeply personal glimpse into the struggles behind the songs-and the resilience that continues to keep Weaver moving forward.

As the band launches a new season of music, one thing is clear: Mike Weaver's story isn't just about loss. It's about finding hope after heartbreak and discovering that faith can survive even life's deepest wounds.
