Some bonds don't end when a show does - or even when a life does.

Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Dawson Leery's mother on the beloved WB series Dawson's Creek, took to Instagram on June 19 to mark Father's Day weekend with a tender nod to her late TV son, James Van Der Beek.

Humes shared a throwback Dawson's Creek poster alongside a message urging fathers to be embraced and cherished.

It's the latest in a series of quiet, steady acts of remembrance from Humes, who has stayed close to Van Der Beek's family since his passing.

On what would have been his 49th birthday in March, she sent cookies to his six children - a tradition she had kept with James for years - along with a handwritten note that read: "Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. For those who love with their heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation."

Van Der Beek died in February at age 48 following a battle with stage III colorectal cancer. He passed peacefully, and his family's statement noted that he met his final days with courage, faith, and grace.

He was a devoted father to six children, and his wife Kimberly has continued sharing how deeply his family feels both his absence and his presence.

On a day set aside to honor fathers, Humes' gesture is a reminder that love - the kind that carries through grief and across years - looks a lot like faithfulness. That's a truth people of faith know well.
