PBS is going all out for America's 250th birthday celebration, unveiling a blockbuster lineup for this year's "A Capitol Fourth: 250th Weekend Celebration."

Breaking with tradition, the beloved annual Independence Day concert will air on July 3, giving viewers an early start to the nation's birthday festivities before a packed Fourth of July entertainment schedule.

Returning as host is actor and television personality Alfonso Ribeiro, who will guide audiences through an evening packed with performances from some of music's biggest names spanning country, pop, R&B, rock, and soul.

Country music fans can look forward to appearances from Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, and Carly Pearce, while legendary rock band Chicago joins the celebration alongside iconic performers Patti LaBelle and Kool & The Gang. Additional artists are also expected to take the stage as part of the patriotic television special.

The annual concert, broadcast from Washington, D.C., has become one of America's signature Independence Day traditions, combining live musical performances with patriotic tributes and spectacular fireworks over the nation's capital.

This year's expanded "250th Weekend Celebration" comes as the United States begins commemorating the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding, with celebrations expected to continue throughout the coming year leading into the historic milestone.

With legendary artists, patriotic performances, and one of television's most enduring holiday traditions, PBS is aiming to make this year's "A Capitol Fourth" one of its biggest celebrations yet.
