With his infectious new single "Dance Like David," Dex the Nerd Who Loves Jesus delivers more than just a catchy hip-hop anthem-he offers a joyful call to wholehearted worship. Inspired by King David's uninhibited praise before the Lord, the song encourages listeners to keep worshiping God through every season of life, whether celebrating victories, enduring hardships, waiting in prayer, or rejoicing in breakthroughs. Featuring Drea LP and produced by Stephen Life Music, "Dance Like David" blends high-energy beats with a Christ-centered message that points listeners back to the source of true joy.

A rapper, producer, and creative director with 15 years of experience, Dex has also led several record labels, dedicating his career to reaching the lost and encouraging believers through music. We caught up with him to talk about the inspiration behind "Dance Like David," the lessons he's learned over his journey, the importance of bold worship, and what God has in store next.

Listen to the song here.

Q: You've spent 15 years as a rapper, producer, and creative director, while also leading several labels. Looking back, what have been the biggest lessons from your journey, and how have they shaped the artist you are today?

The biggest lesson I've learned is to be patient and trust God's timing. Whenever we think we're in control, we tend to rush the process and step outside of God's calling for our lives. There's nothing wrong with having drive and ambition to serve the Lord, but we can become so focused on the process that we forget He's the one directing our steps. Every gift, every talent, and every opportunity I have comes from Him. My goal is to use those gifts to honor my Heavenly Father and point others to Christ.

Q: Your new single, "Dance Like David," draws inspiration from one of the Bible's most memorable moments of worship. What first sparked the idea for this song, and why did King David's story resonate with you at this point in your career?

King David's life reminds us that God calls ordinary people to extraordinary purposes. His story challenged me because it shows that true peace is found through obedience to God. Obedience isn't a burden or a chore it's an opportunity to worship, grow, and draw closer to Him. As believers, we're called to be representatives of Christ and let our light shine before others. What better way to do that than through joyful, wholehearted worship?

Q: The song celebrates praising God through victories, hardships, prayers, and breakthroughs. What do you hope listeners experience when they hear "Dance Like David," especially those who may be walking through difficult seasons?

My prayer is that this song plants a seed of hope and reminds people that real joy is found in the Lord, even in the middle of life's hardest seasons. David danced with all his might because he understood who God was, not because life was easy. He experienced rejection, suffering, and countless hardships, yet he never stopped worshiping. I hope listeners are encouraged to humble themselves before God, worship Him without fear, and keep their eyes on Him instead of their circumstances. David wasn't concerned with human approval he was focused on honoring his Creator with wholehearted devotion. That's the kind of worship I want this song to inspire.

Q: Drea LP joins you on this track, with production from Stephen Life Music. How did this collaboration come together, and what did each person bring that helped elevate the song?

Working with Stephen Life Music has been an incredible blessing. Our relationship goes beyond making music it's built on fellowship, accountability, and growing together in our walk with Christ. Throughout the creative process, he continually challenges me spiritually while helping me stay rooted in God's Word and sharpen my writing.

Drea LP is family. She's also a close friend of my wife, so collaborating with her felt natural. It honestly felt like creating music with a sister in Christ. She's incredibly talented, professional, and brought so much heart and authenticity to the record. I'm grateful God gave us the opportunity to work together.

Q: David's worship was bold, joyful, and completely focused on God, regardless of what others thought. How has your own faith challenged you to worship with that same freedom, both in your music and in everyday life?

One of the biggest steps in my faith journey was changing my artist name to Dex the Nerd Who Loves Jesus. I wanted everything about my music and platform to point back to Christ and use the gifts He's given me for His glory instead of worrying about how I'd be perceived. My desire has always been to worship Him with everything I have rather than chase status or recognition.

People know exactly what they're going to get when they listen to my music, and I've honestly been humbled by the positive response from both believers and non-believers. Those conversations have opened so many doors to share the Gospel, encourage people who are struggling in their faith, and introduce others to Christ through music. That's far more rewarding than any personal success.

Q: With "Dance Like David" set for release, what's next for you? Can fans expect more collaborations, a new project, or other exciting plans in the months ahead?

Absolutely! I have several collaborations on the way that I'm really excited about, along with new music and upcoming projects that I can't wait to share. God has been opening so many doors, and I'm thankful for every opportunity.

I also want to give a special thank you to Rapzilla, We Infiltrate Music, and Syntax Creative for believing in me and supporting me throughout my journey as a Christian hip-hop artist. Their encouragement has been a true blessing, and I'm excited for what God has planned next.
