'Orange is the New Black' Season 3 Netflix Releasing June 2015, Cast Star Uzo Aduba Wins Emmy for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 is currently filming but cast star Uzo Aduba was enjoying the red carpet at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday night (Aug 16) in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre.
She was nominated for 'Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series' for her character, Suzanne 'Crazy Eyes' Warren. Aduba won the award, beating out "Orange is the New Black" co-stars Natasha Lyonne and Laverne Cox as well as Joan Cusack ("Shameless") and Tiny Fey and Melissa McCarthy for their "Saturday Night Live" appearances.
The show is based around Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman that gets sent to prison 10 years after she got caught up in transporting drug money across international lines. "Orange is the New Black" is made by 'Weeds' creator Jenji Kohan, and is based on the true story of Piper Kerman's year spent in prison that she wrote about in her memoir.
"Orange is the New Black" became the latest hit series for Netflix after a surprisingly huge reaction to its first season this summer. Netflix has hit the right formula lately with the hugely successful "House of Cards" Season 1 & 2 releasing to great reviews as well. "House of Cards" Season 2 released earlier in 2014. "Orange is the New Black" Season 1 raised eyebrows for it's controversial yet honest portrayal of prison life for women that is not been discussed much in popular culture especially through a series.
This comes just days after "Orange is the New Black" was officially nominated for four 2014 Emmy Awards including 'Outstanding Comedy' and Taylor Schilling for 'Best Actress in a Comedy'. The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards when they air on August 25 on NBC at 8/7c.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 is set to release in June 2015 on Netflix.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 1 was released in its entirety (13 episodes) on Netflix exclusively on July 11, 2013 and Season 2 released in June 2014.
