Pastor Jamal Bryant's explosive feud with life coach Dr. Cheyenne Bryant has taken yet another dramatic turn, with fresh allegations over legal threats, academic credentials and the legitimacy of a little-known university.
The latest chapter unfolded after Pastor Bryant revealed that he received a cease-and-desist letter warning him to stop discussing Dr. Cheyenne publicly. But according to the pastor, the warning didn't come from a licensed attorney-it allegedly came directly from Dr. Cheyenne Bryant herself.
While anyone can draft and send a cease-and-desist letter, such notices generally carry far more weight when issued by a law firm. Pastor Bryant suggested the move only added to the growing controversy surrounding the dispute.
The drama didn't end there.
Pastor Bryant also claimed he later received an email from Dr. Jaqueline Pitts, who identified herself as president of Indiana Southwest Christian University. In the email, Pitts reportedly defended Dr. Cheyenne's academic background, stating that she had earned a doctorate in "Theocentric Psychology" from the institution.
However, Pastor Bryant said his own investigation raised even more questions. He alleged the university is not officially recognised by the state of Indiana and pointed out that Pitts contacted him from a Gmail account rather than an official university email address. He also claimed the school's website consisted of only a single webpage, further fuelling his scepticism about the institution's credibility.
The public clash began in June 2026 after Pastor Bryant issued a surprising apology for previously featuring Dr. Cheyenne Bryant on his Let's Be Clear podcast. He later said he regretted giving a platform to individuals presenting themselves as mental health experts without recognised professional licensing or accredited credentials.
Bryant argued that promoting uncredentialed voices diminishes the years of education, training and licensure required of qualified mental health professionals.
He also revealed that the issue is deeply personal. Bryant noted that his sister previously served as president of the American Psychological Association, saying her career reinforced his belief that academic integrity and professional standards should be defended.
As both sides continue trading claims, the highly public dispute has sparked intense debate across social media over credentials, accountability and who should be trusted as an authority in the mental health space. Neither side appears ready to back down, making this one of the most closely watched controversies in Christian media.
