Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has conquered the box office - and now the blockbuster epic is preparing to invade living rooms.
After sailing past a staggering $1.35 billion worldwide, the Matt Damon-led spectacle has reportedly locked in its home release date. The Odyssey will arrive on premium video on demand on November 17, with 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions landing the same day.
And Nolan certainly isn't limping out of theaters.
The film has officially become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, overtaking 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, which finished with approximately $1.338 billion globally. The Odyssey reached roughly $1.352 billion worldwide, giving Nolan yet another enormous commercial victory after Oppenheimer.
It's an especially impressive haul for a movie based on a poem written nearly 3,000 years ago.
Nolan's adaptation casts Matt Damon as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca desperately trying to return home after the Trojan War. Anne Hathaway plays Penelope, while Tom Holland appears as their son Telemachus.
But Nolan didn't exactly surround them with unknowns. The enormous ensemble also includes Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Corey Hawkins, Himesh Patel and James Remar.
The blockbuster opened to nearly $124 million in North America during its July 17-19 debut and remained No. 1 for another weekend before Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived.
Even more impressive? Audiences apparently aren't just buying tickets because Nolan's name is above the title. The movie currently carries a 94% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, while its audience Popcornmeter score stands at an eye-popping 97%.
And despite Universal already announcing its trip to home entertainment, The Odyssey isn't disappearing from cinemas just yet. As of August 21, it was reportedly still playing in more than 3,000 North American theaters.
Pricing for the November PVOD release hasn't been announced, but the movie is expected to be available both to purchase and rent through the usual major digital platforms.
So if you somehow missed Damon battling his way home on the biggest screen possible, your second chance is coming.
November 17 is the date - and after $1.35 billion at the box office, Odysseus is finally heading home.
