Lionel Richie's hospitalization may be more concerning than initially believed. The 77-year-old music legend reportedly remains in a St. Louis intensive care unit while doctors conduct tests involving his heart-an unsettling development after early reports suggested he was merely suffering from slight dehydration.

Richie checked himself into the hospital following his August 29 concert at The Muny in Forest Park. Witnesses said the "Hello" singer appeared to struggle toward the end of the performance and asked his team to bring him a chair so he could finish "All Night Long" while seated. TMZ initially reported that the ICU admission was precautionary and that Richie hoped to be discharged Tuesday.

However, TMZ's latest update claims Richie remains hospitalized as doctors "check out his ticker." While that language suggests his heart is being evaluated, neither Richie's representatives nor the hospital has confirmed a heart condition or released an official diagnosis.

The prolonged stay is certain to worry fans because this is Richie's second alarming onstage health episode in just a few months. During a June concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, the singer became dizzy, described himself as feeling "strange" and was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Two subsequent shows were postponed on medical advice before he returned to the tour.

Richie later assured fans that he was doing well, but his latest hospitalization has renewed questions about whether the tireless entertainer should continue with his demanding schedule. He is currently expected to return to the stage in San Francisco on September 26, although no announcement has been made about whether that performance will proceed.

For now, fans around the world are praying that the man responsible for "Truly," "Hello" and "Dancing on the Ceiling" receives reassuring news. The ICU setting and reported heart examinations make this latest scare harder to dismiss as simple dehydration-but until doctors or Richie's family speak publicly, his precise condition remains unknown.
