Savannah Guthrie became emotional this week after Allison Janney used her Emmy win to publicly remember Guthrie's missing mother, Nancy.
Janney, 66, won her eighth Emmy for outstanding lead performance in a drama series for her role in Netflix's The Diplomat. In interviews following her win, Janney was asked about her past comments of support for the Guthrie family. "I honestly can say I think about her every day and think about the loss and what Savannah and her family are going through," Janney said. "I don't think I'm alone, too. I think all of America was thinking about her."
Guthrie responded on Today, saying she was "touched" by the tribute. "I never let a moment pass if I get one to talk about my mom and how much we miss her and love her," she said. "My whole family... are in such pain. We need help, so thank you, Allison Janney, for remembering us and for giving an opportunity to renew that call. We just want our mom home, give her a proper goodbye, that's all."
Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing since February 1 after vanishing from her Tucson, Arizona home. The case, upgraded to a homicide investigation in June, remains open with no suspect named. A $1 million reward remains active for information leading to her return.
