Simone Biles is shopping for a new car after revealing that three masked men broke into her family's Chicago-area home and stole her Porsche GTS during the couple's final months living in the city.
The 29-year-old gymnast shared the previously undisclosed break-in in a TikTok posted Monday, Sept. 21, while getting ready to pick up a replacement vehicle. "During our last few months in Chicago, three men in masks came to our house and stole my Porsche. Stole the GTS," Biles said, adding that the car was eventually recovered.
Biles, who has spoken openly in past interviews about how her Christian faith carried her through some of the toughest stretches of her career - including her very public mental health struggles at the Tokyo Olympics - didn't dwell on the fear in the video, instead treating the ordeal as one more surreal chapter in an eventful year. "The things that happen to me are absolutely insanity," she said, half-joking that "it'd be really easy for producers to just film regularly."
The gymnast said the break-in was one reason she and husband Jonathan Owens, a safety for the Indianapolis Colts who played for the Chicago Bears last season, added a Doberman to their household for extra protection.
Biles didn't specify when or exactly where the burglary happened, saying only, "That's a story for another time." She's since replaced the stolen Porsche GTS with a Porsche Cayenne GTS, joking in the same video about briefly cross-shopping an Audi before settling on the upgrade.
The revelation comes just months after Biles disclosed a separate health scare in June that she called one of the scariest experiences of her life.
