The Flash TV Series News, Spoilers, Trailers and Updates: New Villain Cast for the New Comic Book Series
With the success of The CW's Arrow, the TV series adaptation of DC comic book hero Green Arrow, the spin-off The Flash will be gracing the small screen this coming October.
It was announced today that Star-Crossed star Greg Finley will be joining the cast as a recurring villain Tony Woodward also known as Girder. Girder has the superhuman ability of turning his whole body into steel and it also gives him superhuman strength. He'll be joining The Flash's other villains Captain Cold played by Wentworth Miller, Plastique played by Bette Sans Souci, and Professor Zoom played by Rick Cosnett. With the new casting news, it is apparent that The Flash will surely be busy on his series debuted battling numerous other villains.
The Flash was developed from Arrow's 8th and 9th episode of the second season as just simply a cameo appearance, but due to favorable audience impact, has spawn its own series pilot. The upcoming series will exist inside the same universe as Arrow's and will expand the DC TV universe. Executive producer of Arrow, Greg Berlanti originally planned to have three episodes featuring the fastest man alive in the show, and the third episode would serve as the pilot for The Flash series. The idea was scrapped in favor of creating a more traditional pilot to give the show a sense of autonomy from Arrow. The Flash has been confirmed to have cross-over episodes with season 3 of Arrow.
'Glee' alum Grant Gustin was cast as Barry Allen/The Flash back in September and the series was officially picked up by May. Production of the pilot eventually began on March. He will be joined by Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, and Jesse L. Martin.
The Flash premieres on Tuesday, October 7 and Arrow Season 3 premieres the following day on The CW.
