A new faith-based film retells the Christmas story in a present-day American neighborhood. God With Us opens in select theaters on Nov. 13, 2026. It is a modern-day nativity story from writer and director Jimmy Jenkins, reimagined as a contemporary inner-city love story.
The film is set in an urban Maryland neighborhood, where Mary Anne Thomas and her boyfriend Joseph "Junie" Love find their lives turned upside down when Mary discovers she is miraculously pregnant. It is described as a drama with heart, humor and soul about grace, growth and unconditional love.
Aspen Kennedy and Ashley Olivia Fisher star, alongside Rotimi, Roger Guenveur Smith, Ashley Rios, Gregory Alan Williams, Clifton Powell and Lil Rel Howery.
Jenkins worked on the film with his brother Joshua and his father, Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr. It is his sophomore feature, after Sinners Wanted. He has said there haven't been many faith-based films that authentically speak to urban America.
The official trailer was released on Aug. 31. More updates are at godwithusmovie.com.
The title echoes Matthew 1:23, where the name Immanuel is translated "God with us."
