"Obsession" breakout Inde Navarrette says Gen Z is tired of being sold to at the movies. Appearing on The Kyle Buchanan Show, she shared advice on how Hollywood can keep Gen Z audiences interested in theaters.

Her main point is simple: younger viewers want fewer ads and more original stories. "We don't want to be sold. We want original stories," she said, according to Variety.

She acknowledged that advertising is fundamental to the business, but said living in the age of technology does not mean Gen Z has stopped wanting real, human experiences. She added that she is glad "Obsession" gave audiences that.

Her words carry weight because of the film's results. Navarrette plays Nikki in the horror hit. Variety reports it reached about $522 million worldwide and kept earning for four straight weekends through word of mouth. Fandango data also showed Gen Z's moviegoing momentum building, with higher spending on concessions and premium screens.

Her next steps are already lining up. Her next film, "Invertigo," has finished production, and The Hollywood Reporter says she has met with Jake Schreier and Michael Mann.
