Star Trek 3 Latest News: Complete Revamp and Will Follow the Original Series - Where No Man Has Gone Before
Star Trek 3 release date is pushed to 2016. This 3rd installment will have the characters leap to boundaries never before seen by man - as said by Capt Kirk in the last scene of "Into the Darkness".
There will be a complete revamp in the franchise. A new director will helm the film and new screenwriters will write a new story too - well, the plot will follow the original series story - that is, going to the realms of the unknown world, heading out to deep space for an exploration mission.
JJ Abrams will be replaced by Joe Cornish as Abrams is currently busy with Star Wars: Episode VII. The screenwriters of the previous film were, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. While Orci will continue with the franchise, Kurtzman will be replaced by two writers - Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne.
According to Orci, "In 'Into Darkness' they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films - especially the 2008 Star Trek - was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren't the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie,"
