Brittany Murphy's life is being brought back to the small screen with a biopic about her life. Murphy's life ended much tragically and much too soon, he was only 32 when she died in December 2009 from pneumonia and other causes.
Five years later, her life is being turned into a two-hour television movie that will air on Lifetime next month. The Brittany Murphy Story will air on Saturday, September 6 and is the first long-form movie about her life. They have released the first trailer for the upcoming movie, which you can check out above.
Amanda Fuller (Last Man Standing, Grey's Anatomy) has been chosen to play the role of Murphy in the Lifetime biopic. The 29-year-old Fuller will star in the biopic alongside television veteran Sherylin Fenn, who will play Brittany's mother Sharon Murphy.
Brittany died on December 20, 2009 from pneumonia and other causes and her husband Simon Monjack died five months later of similar causes, which will be covered to some degree in the movie.
The film will reportedly tell the story of Brittany's younger years during which her mother Sharon Murphy tried to turn her daughter into a star. It leads up to her death and will also cover the aftermath, "when her mother dealt with claims that her daughter's death was not accidental."
It movie will also focus on her relationship with her mother who pushed her to seek fame and fortune and dlve into the speculation surrounding Brittany's death.
Murphy's mother, Sharon, broke her silence and spoke publicly against claims made by Brittany's estranged father Angelo Bertolotti, calling them are 'madness' and 'lies'.
Sharon, 61, was living with Brittany and Simon in their Hollywood Hills home at the time of their deaths, told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I have chosen to stay out of the limelight since the tragic and sudden death of my wonderful, talented, loving daughter.
'I have no choice now but to come forward in the face of inexcusable efforts to smear my daughter's memory by a man who may be her biological father, but was never a real father to her in her lifetime.'
