Hannibal Season 3 Spoilers, News, Cast, and Updates: Red Dragon will be Adapted for the New Season
Hannibal season 3 finale left us with Will, Alana, and Jack bleeding to their apparent deaths and Hannibal, with his psychiatrist/girlfriend Bedelia, fleeing out of the country. Many questions needs to be answered, and season 3might give us those answers we're looking for.
Details have surfaced online on some of what Hannibal Season 3 will be about thanks to DigitalSpy.
HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD
Season 3 will apparently be divided into 2 parts. The first part will be Will Graham's pursuit of on the run psychopath Hannibal Lecter, and the second part will be the TV show's version of Thomas Hariss' novel Red Dragon. Writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot says that "It'll be our version of Red Dragon." If you've read the novel, then you know exactly what the second half will be about.
It will be the pursuit of the serial killer only known to the police as the "Tooth Fairy." The Tooth fairy is of course known as Francis Dolarhyde in the book, and is known to murder families and does unspeakable sexual acts to the mother of the house. The character of Francis Dolarhyde was brought to life by actor Ralph Feinnes in the 2002 film adaptation, Red Dragon.
Gillian Anderson will also return to play Bedelia Du Maurier. She will be living with Hannibal in their new life in Florence, Italy under false identities. For fans, it's easy to assume that the character of Jack Crawford is dead, but it's been confirmed that Laurence Fishburne will return to reprise the role. Another surprise is the return of Dr. Frederick Chilton, who is played by Esparza. Assumed dead at the end of the episode "Yakimono," Dr. Chilton will be back with a vengeance (and a cool scar) to seek revenge on Dr. Lecter.
Hannibal season 3 will premiere sometime in Q1 of 2015
