British Pop Singer Kate Bush Makes a Stage Comeback in 35 Years with ‘Before the Dawn'
It's been 35 years since British singerKate Bush graced the stage, with her last performance in 1979 held at Hammersmith Apollo in London. This year, she officially made a stage comeback with her first show yesterday, again held at the Hammersmith Apollo with her tour titled "Before the Dawn." It seems for the singer, this place is quite a special one. She opened the concert with her 1993 song "Lily."
Her "Before the Dawn" tour will have 22 shows, all through October 1 this year. It was announced March of this year about her plans to perform live again through her official website. The news quickly spread out and when over 80,000 tickets went on sale later in March, it quickly went sold out in just 15 minutes.
When the news of the tour broke out, it quickly generated a lot of buzz for the singer. Well-known British publications like The Telegraph, Daily Mail and The Guardian gave highly positive reviews about the show, giving it five stars out of five and calling it "another remarkable achievement."
With the start of the tour, her most latest album "50 Words of Snow" that was released in 2011 has already sold 155,000 copies, her greatest hits collection "The Whole Story" rising to No. 8; as well as 11 of her albums rising to this week's Top 100 album charts for sales.
Kate Bush was introduced into the music scene when she was 19 in 1978 with her debut single "Wuthering Heights," that was on top of Britain's singles chart for four weeks. Various other artists such as; Coldplay, Bjork, Sex Pistol, Tupac Shakur and Johnny Rotten have all cited her as an influence in their music.
