'Top Gun' 2 Released Date, Latest News and Update! Much Awaited 'Top Gun' Sequel Delayed as Tom Cruise Would Need to Focus Filming 'Mission Impossible 5'

Who would forget Captain Maverick and Goose? It has been decades since both of them enchanted silver screens across the globe. Even so, it doesn't mean that we won't be able to see them flying the skies in another escapade.

It was reported by Kpopstarz back in July this year that Paramount Head of Production Adam Goodman's top priority is the release of Top Gun 2, in which Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. He even stated that, "We'll likely make a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise first. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We've hired Peter Craig to write the script."

Mostly of us know that the sequel almost made it to theaters; however it was shelved last 2012 following the death of its director, Tony Scott. Then we were thrilled when they confirmed back in July that the production of Top Gun 2 is now resumed. The producer even revealed to IndieWire that "We're at a point right now where everybody wants to make it," but to no avail it was place on hold AGAIN, according to rumors.

Top Gun 2 rumors are flying left and right, sources are saying that Top Gun 2 released date will be delayed AGAIN as Tom Cruise needs to focus filming Mission Impossible 5 first. No CONFIRMED date yet as to when they would really resume Top Gun 2 production.

As of to date, Tom Cruise is filming the fifth saga of our favorite Hit Spy Movie of all time (for me, at least) Mission Impossible, with that being pointed out, it's safe to assume that Top Gun 2 production will have to hold up before gearing up.

In a Top Gun 2 interview with Tom Cruise, he cited that he would be very much grateful in doing the film. He also mentions that ''With movies, they each have their time - when it's ready to be made. If we can get over some stumbling blocks it will be fun to do.''

Top Gun 2 is a sequel of the 1980s classic blockbuster hit Top Gun, in which was produced by the late Don Simpson along with Jerry Bruckheimer. It is said that the classic hit grossed over $356 million worldwide during its release in 1986, in which Cruise build up sky rocket fame. This was also the movie when Tom Cruise made it to the Hollywood as one of the biggest stars.
