Jason Wright Declares God's Victory with His New Album and in this Interview
Jason Wright and the Master's Touch has just release their debut album for DREAM Gospel Records. Entitled "The Songs of Declaration," the new Gospel record is produced by new comer Rufus McGee, Jr. Most of the 12 songs on the new disc were written by Wright, with the rest coming from the pens of industry favorites such as Travis Malloy, Steven McCoy, and new writer Jason Monroe.
Wright is no stranger to the Gospel Music scene. For the longest time he is a member of Stellar Award Winning choir Ricky Dillard & New G.. Wright is also the co-leader of the hit song "Take Me Back" in which he recorded with Dillard & New G on their 6th album. Jason has also recorded with Dorothy Norwood on her "Shake The Devil Off" album as well as several others. Currently Jason serves as the President/Minister of Music for the Church of God in Christ of Western New York overseeing music for over 90 churches across upstate New York. Jason has traveled the world including Germany, Italy, and England spreading the Gospel through music
We are so honored to be able to catch up with Jason Wright for this exclusive Hallels' interview:
Hallels: Jason, thank you for your time. Besides releasing your new album, you are also the President/Minister of Music for the Church of God in Christ of Western New York, tell us what does this role entail?
My role as the President/Minister of Music for New York Western First COGIC entails coordinating, and providing ALL music for our several conventions and meetings throughout the year, heading a staff of people across the state of NY, traveling to cities and churches acroos the state to help build and enhance local music ministries, etc.
Hallels: In the past you were also involved with Ricky Dillard and New G., tell us about your involvement there?
I began signing with Ricky & New G in 1997 just after they recorded the "Worked It Out" project, and Ricky indroduced me to the world with the hit song "Take Me Back" on which we co-led and from there my career began to take off. I owe my success musically to Ricky and I am forever grateful to him for that. I am still involved with Ricky Dillard & New G, as Ricky remains my mentor and "pops" as I call him and whenever my schedule allows I am right there with Ricky and my New G family.
Hallels: Now let's talk about your brad new DREAM Records album "Songs of Declaration," I believe the album was birthed out of your own declaration of faith, can you tell us more about that?
Yes, many of the songs on the project were birthed out of a place of "lack" that I was living in and as I continued to pray and seek God He began to put it in my spirit that there is so much POWER in our tongue and that as long as i continued to SPEAK a thing then that's all i would experience, so I began to write songs that were declaring the things that God had for our lives and that's where "Songs of Declaration" came from.
Hallels: What is the current single off this album? And can you tell us what the song is about?
The current single from the album is "The Declaration", and again it came from a place of living beneath what God had designed for me, and one day after reading in Proverbs it stood up in my spirit and I began to declare things of Victory and prosperity, and the more I declared them the more they began to happen.
Hallels: After hearing your album, what lessons do you want your listeners to take home with them?
After listening to the new album I want the listener to walk away realizing that there IS VICTORY on the other side of ANY and EVERY trial they are faced with, and that simply SPEAKING AND BELIEVING at thing can change any situation in their lives.
Hallels: If there's something that sets your music apart, what would it be?
I think what sets my music apart is that it is easy and straight to the point, you don't have to wonder about the message i'm trying to convey, it's to the point but and enjoyable all the same.
Hallels: For our readers who would like to purchase your album or learn more about you, where can they go?
Well the album is available on ALL digital outlets, and some stores (if it's not on the shelf request it). You can also reach us on all Social Media: Facebook - Jason Wright & The Master' Touch, Twitter & Instagram - @JWMastersTouch
