The Greatest American Hero is returning on screen, from the directors of The LEGO movie and 21 jump street, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller bring back the Emmy-nominated '80s superhero series back to the small screen alongside Tawnia McKiernan, daughter of the original series' prolific creator, Stephen J. Cannell (creator of The A-Team, The Rockford Files, the original 21 jump street and a long list of popular shows throughout the '80s and '90s). This is according to reports by Deadline.
Fox network is set to develop the hour-long series, The Greatest American Hero.
The original series that chronicled the adventures of Los Angeles school teacher Ralph Hinkley a role famously played by William Katt. He was given a superhero suit by aliens during an encounter he had in the desert. Ralph partnered with Agent Bill Maxwell (Robert Culp), though reluctantly, to use the suit to do good deeds, sometimes with disastrous, but mostly successful, results as he cannot control the suit. (He lost the instruction manual for the suit shortly after receiving it.) The series went for 3 seasons and it was good enough to be nominated for the Emmy awards, and propelled its theme song which is Joey Scarbury's "Believe it or not".
Deadline also reports that the upcoming series will be written and executive produced by Rodney Rothman, who was a co-writer of the recent 21 Jump Street sequel, 22 Jump Street alongside Lord and Miller. This time round, the series will follow an inner-city teacher called Isaac who discovers a super hero suit which grants him very powerful abilities. And much like the original series, he loses the instruction manual. He also has to contend with a government handler who has his own ideas on how to best use the suit. Isaac had to deal with him. It is still unknown when the newest version of "The Greatest American Hero" will premiere on FOX.
The upcoming new season is known to be exciting and very popular among the customers and more so due to its nominations for the Emmy awards. Although the premiere date is still unknown, stay with us for more information on this and much more.
