GTX 880, 870, 860 Release Date: Going To Be Launched in Sept-Oct!
It is coming and coming soon. Gigabyte, the manufacturer of high performance graphics card and motherboard has hinted on the release date of GTX 800 series of its graphics card line.
The GTX 880, 870 and 860 graphics cards are the next generation cards being launched by Gigabyte in its much-waited 800 series.
Much to the excitement of GTX series fans, in a recent interview, one of a senior Gigabyte official confirmed that the 880, 870 and 860 cards would be released in late September / early October 2014. Gigabyte fans had a hint already about the timeline from unofficial sources but the latest announcement confirms the time duration of the release.
The GTX 880 comes with an impressive specification and is based on the GM2804 chip from Maxwell. It boasts of an all-new and proprietary system for cooling purposes. The GTX 880 has a metal backside and looks attractive with it set of LED lights. The 880 comes with a GDDR5 memory supported by a 256 bit bus line. Further it has a 4 GB memory size to be able to handle lots of in memory data and comes with 2560 CUDA cores.
As per some sources, the GTX 880 is expected to be technologically advanced and hence would provide a much faster performance.
The GTX 870 is expected to be released along with the 880 in the September / October time frame. The 870 is based on a stripped down version of the GM204 core.
On the other hand, GTX 860 is a budget gaming card for aimed at a more casual gaming crowd. It would be launched after the 880 and 870 around late of October
The overclocking and custom cooling system of the GTX series puts it in to a much higher league of its own when it comes to high performance graphics card.
