Minority Report TV Show: Small-Screen Adaptation and Sequel to the Tom Cruise 2002 Movie Gets the Greenlight
A Minority Report TV show is in the works. Fox has ordered a television sequel to the 2002 Tom Cruise sci-fi film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a put-pilot commitment has already been made with Paramount and Steven Spielberg's Amblin for production of a Minority Report TV series that will take place ten years after the Pre-Crime Unit in D.C. was shut down.
Though there is still no Minority Report TV show page in IMDB, the television sequel will reportedly follow one of the three Precogs who is struggling to lead a "normal" human life, but is constantly haunted by visions of the future. Along the way, he gets to meet a detective who in turn is haunted by her past. Together, they begin to find purpose with his strange gift.
TheMinority Report TV series will be written and executive co-produced by Max Borenstein. Amblin's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will also co-produce the show. The original Tom Cruise starrer Minority Report film was directed by Steven Spielberg who is now actively involved in the development of the TV series.
Tom Cruise though will not be involved in the TV project. He is currently filming for the upcoming Mission Impossible 5 movie which is scheduled for release on December 26, 2015. According to Express, the Tom Cruise latest news is that the 52-year old star was last seen dangling on a rope from the roof of Austria's iconic Vienna Opera House looking suave in a black suit which he wore with a white shirt for the shooting of some scenes.
Following Mission Impossible 5, Tom Cruise' next announced film projects are Top Gun 2 and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.As a film producer, his company, Cruise/Wagner Productions, is said to be now developing a screenplay based on the New York Times bestseller, The Devil in the White City, written by Erik Larson based on the true story of serial killer H.H. Holmes. He already has Kathryn Bigelow attached to direct and produce the movie.
