Bryan Duncan - Getting the Music Out There
His newest album, called Conversations, released last December and he's still promoting it. Being an indie artist has its perks and freedoms, but it also means that you don't have the budget help that comes from having a big-name record label behind you. It can cost thousands of dollars to do publicity or send songs to just one radio format and when there is no up-front money from anyone's bank account but yours, the cost alone can make your marketing plans come to a screeching halt.
Enter crowd-funding - This platform allows artists to reach out and get help from fans with donations towards your goal. Fans get to feel like they're a part of the musical process and they get great perks for helping.
Bryan has two crowd-funding opportunities he's sharing this month. The first is for marketing help with Conversations. For as little as three dollars, you can help get the music to the people and get behind the scenes updates from the Soul Furnace Reports. Bigger donations get bigger perks, including music downloads, DVDs, CDs, T-Shirts and even concerts performed in your home, church or other location. (Learn more / donate through November 3, 2013)
The second opportunity is a new live audio and video project Bryan recorded with an amazing band and some special guests. Production costs can be as high or higher than marketing and again, unless you have deep pockets, the cost can be more than you can swing without backers. This funding campaign is only running through October 16, 2013, so if you want to get in on any of the great perks, you will have to act fast. Both opportunities offer "custom" packages which allow you, the fan, to get extras they may not have even thought of! (Learn more / donate through October 16, 2013)
