iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5: Their Best Specs, Competing for the Best-Selling Smartphone
iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5: Their Best Specs, Competing for the Best-Selling Smartphone
The new iPhone 6 was finally introduced in a September 9 event this year, and Samsung Galaxy S5, by far, is considered the biggest rival of the new iPhone. The two devices will surely compete for the best-selling device mark in the upcoming months.
The new Apple iPhone has again expanded its display size and made it into a 4.7 inch display from the previous 4 inches, but the S5 still has the bigger 5.1 inch display.
Samsung S5 uses a solid plastic construction material as its main cover, but it surely doesn't have the same quality and feel as the iPhone 6 metal case. The new iPhone also has a smoother and rounder look than its previous ones, and it uses ion-strengthened glass.
Size wise, the two are a lot similar now than it was before, but the iPhone 6 is still the slimmer one of the two
Apple has finally included the NFC technology in its new iPhone, and has an electronic wallet called Apple Pay. While S5 already has the NFC, it does not have the payment app like the Apple pay.
While S5's Super AMOLED technology makes its screen one of the best in the market today, Apple retained the LCD technology. Yet, the new iPhone uses dual-main pixels for its screen, which should improve the viewing quality. The new iPhone also has a better resolution than its previous ones.
Performance wise, S5 has the quad-core that completes the SunSpider test in just 408ms. iPhone 6 still has the same dual-core that used to complete the SunSpider test in 416ms. Yet, with the newer A8 chip in the new iPhone 6, Apple claims the new iPhone has a 25% faster processing power and a 50% faster graphics.
The new iPhone also comes with a camera that works better in low-light than its previous versions. It now has the Focus Pixels for a faster and quicker focus. While the S5 seems to have better detailed images, the new iPhone 6 seems to offer better image quality.
iPhone 6, with a better system but a larger screen, has a battery life similar to the previous iPhone 5S. This makes Samsung S5 the longer-lasting device, as its replaceable 2,800mAh battery lasts 17h 30m in a video playback test.
As for deciding which is better, iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S5, it all boils down to preference.
