Kaley Cuoco is portraying Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress from out of town living as a neighbor next door. Simon Helberg is portraying an aerospace and mechanical engineer character named Howard Joel Wolowitz.
And finally Kunal Nayyar as Rajesh Ramayan Koothrappali, also nicknamed Raj in the TV series, who is originally from India and working as an astrophysicist.
It focuses mainly on the social and awkward lives of all of the 5 fictional characters mentioned above as Johnny, Leonard, Penny, Howard and Raj, all living in Pasadena, California.
