Winds of Winter Release Date: "I Don't Know," Martin Says When Asked About the Release Date
Writing a book has always been hard, especially when there are great expectations for the author.
This is probably what George R.R. Martin is currently experiencing as he delays the release of his book, Winds of Winter. When asked when the book would be released, Martin answered, "I don't know."
Asked about the reason of delay, Martin said that he is pressured by both the demands of the movie and book series, which is quite understandable. Writing a book is hard enough, but pressure from having a well-known series adapted from your book is bound to be harder.
In relation, he added that since the story has gone further along, it has already been hard for him to track the storyline and the characters. It is a tedious job, Martin said, as the timeline spans thousands of years, with new developments with each character in each book.
The "Winds of Winter" was intended to be the final installation of A Song of Ice and Fire, but Martin announced that it would be followed by a final novel, A Dream of Spring. Martin's UK-based publisher, Jane Johnson announced beforehand that the book will not be published before 2015, as she has posted on her social media account.
The author has already decided on not writing the screenplay for the upcoming season of the Game of Thrones to focus on finishing the sixth part of his series; however, he remains to be a co-executive producer of the television series, set to be released in Spring 2015.
Fans will not have to wait for more than a year though, to finish the series, as Martin promised that the subsequent release of the final book will be in 2015, which is the same year as The Winds of Winter is expected to be released.
Fans can expect new content from Martin though, as he is set to release "The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones" on October 26 in New York. It is an illustrated volume of the history of Essos and Westeros, and will serve as a prologue to the sixth installment of the series.
