Pitch Perfect 2: Actress/Director Elizabeth Banks on her New Sequel, Special Cameos by Pentatonix and Penn Masala
More voices coming up in the musical comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 2, and is ready to hit the big screens on May 15, 2015. The movie is directed by Elizabeth Banks, written by Kay Cannon, based on the book by Mickey Rapkin.
The actress-turned-director Elizabeth Banks commented on her new role and movie as the movie director, "It's very exciting-and harrowing, and nerve-wracking. I really want to put out a great movie that fans love" and that it's been "a really amazing experience".
She says that one of the central themes in the upcoming sequel is the transition from college to adulthood, "The first movie was about that transition into college, everybody was an incoming freshman, and now we're telling a story about that transitional time when you have to leave the nest and planning for your life and what your ambitions are, goals for your future, and having to say goodbye to the friends you made and go out into the big, bad world, while making a lot of music with their mouths".
Elizabeth Banks had a minor role in the previous Pitch Perfect movie as one of the commentators at the ICCAs, a collegiate a cappella competition. In the upcoming new sequel, she will still play the sassy competition judge.
The movie cast includes Anna Kendrick, Katey Sagal, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Skylar Astin, Hailee Steinfeld, and Rebel Wilson, while special cameos include the famous a cappella group Pentatonix and Penn Masala.
