Sony Unveils Smart EyeGlass: Direct face-off with Google Glass
Sony is about to release Smart EyeGlass, which will be a center of attraction for fans hitting the market next year by March. It will continue the rivalry against Google Glass. The smart EyeGlass will be the secondary projector screen for the Android smartphone.
A prototype of the EyeGlass was promoted at CES 2014 where a glimpse of the high-end tech used in the glass was shown. The prototype had provisions for the gyroscope, electronic compass, and accelerometer sensors along with latest ambient light sensor. Sony corp. has released the updated software kit for the glass yesterday.
The display interface used in the glass is monochrome, which will present the information about navigation directions or latest notifications. This has been a major difference between the Google glass and Sony's smart EyeGlass.
The display of the EyeGlass is fully transparent. So the front view of the user will be pretty much clear and user will not face any problem to move while wearing the glass. Hologram optics has been introduced in the glass to provide the user better experience than the glasses available in the market.
The transparent display is dependent on projectors and mirrors though the design itself is not much impressive. The frame is pretty much healthy. A wire is placed to activate the controller. This smart EyeGlass brings both the good and the bad news for the fans. Good news is it can be directly connected to smartphones, which might be through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi but the bad news is whispered that it will need controllers to add microphones, speakers or touch sensors. So wire would be visible for certain features.
